[As he holds up both Kaleido and Luminous Ray.]

[He takes the Master Quartz.]

The other one's probably a spell, so you stay back and see if you can get it to work.

[The Master Quartz is also probably mostly spells, but they can swap it out later.]

[Pulling out his ARCUS to slot the regular Quartz in, then!]

And there we go...

[Ash pops out Scorpio and tosses it to Pat so he can pop the new one in.]

Let's find something easy to beat up. Or trees, maybe?

[Catching Scorpio! He'll just put that away for safekeeping...]

Honestly, trees are probably our best option, I think, especially while we're just getting a handle on these.

[Honestly probably for the best. Ash needs to retrain himself on how to fight, after all, given how much weaker he is now. Maybe they can dick around the wood and that goo later.

It's not too hard to find a place with a lot of trees around, at least, and once they're sure it's far enough away from a village Ash nods.]

Alright, let's give this a try...

[He takes a few moments to focus on the new spell, aiming towards a tree... and fires off a Luminous Ray.]

... Whoa. Cool.

Oh, shit, I remember that spell. Nice.

Okay, well, that one's definitely a keeper.

[In other words, that one's only coming out of the ARCUS if he gets a Master Quartz providing that spell.]

I dunno how I'm gonna beat that, but...

[He double checks his ARCUS II before attempting to cast one of the spells on it. A tree is now very wet!]

I know there's another spell on this, but I can't use it. It's a healing spell. [And nothing here needs healing of any sort.] Want me to hit a few things?

Healing's pretty par for the course with water like that, right?

[That's the impression he's gotten, at least.]

Couldn't hurt, at least. That way we'll know if it does anything else, too...

'Kay.

[And Ash goes to town on a few of the trees with his switchaxe, not doing anything fancy as he does. He just needs to see if he feels anything different as he hits.]

[And Pat's quiet as he watches. But after a while--]

Ah! Ash, look!

[... Are those gems?!]

[He stops fighting and looks around at the gems.]

[Pat wanders over to pick some of those up to take a closer look.]

[He bends down to pick some up as well.]

...we need to get to Gramps and ask him if these are legit.

Last weekend. The shopkeeper at that weird Goodwill said it was the last one of this particular kind that they had and they wanted to get rid of it. And I missed having my own car, even if it's only been a month, you know?

[He scratches his cheek a bit.]

Anyway, that's not why I came here!

Man, I need to get a motorcycle from that weirdo...what's up?
